Fashion modeling is a large portion of the modeling industry as it covers a wide range of jobs. Fashion modeling requires a certain body type and is the strictest in staying with the demand of the body type. Models in this type of modeling are required to be no shorter than 5’8” with a slender shape and a bust no bigger than a full b cup, and males slim and no shorter than 5’11”. This is because designers make their clothing to look appealing on this type of female or male form and usually make their clothes in one size in which all the models must be able to fit for runway shows.

Glamour modeling consists of models that are photographed wearing makeup with done up hair, advertising makeup and hair products, usually in magazines and occasionally on billboards. Glamour models may also work doing semi-nude or fully nude photo shoots much like in the pages of Playboy Magazine. The idea of glamour modeling is to have an alluring look that draws attention. Most times there are not strict requirements for height but you must be in shape.

There are also fitness models, most commonly seen in fitness magazines and on infomercials for exercise equipment. These models are required to be in very toned and healthy shape. Fitness models are expected to be able to model in swimwear, exercise gear and doing activities.

There is also a realm of body part modeling, in which just your hands, feet, ear, or stomach for example are photographed or placed in a commercial for an ad. So if you got a job to advertise jewelry, then your hand wearing a ring or bracelet would be photographed. If you land a job advertising a knee surgery they may only photograph just your knee.

These are just a few examples of different types of modeling. If you have always dreamed of modeling now is the time to get started, don’t wait!
