Bill Merrill, a Texas Rangers broadcaster who called Bert Blyleven's no-hitter in 1977, died at 79 22, 1977, when Blyleven tossed a no-hitter for Texas, a 6-0 victory over California
Merrill died Saturday in Arlington
He joined the Rangers' broadcast team in 1974 and worked as play-by-play and color commentator as well as a pregame and postgame interviewer until 1981
