Auditions will consist of a brief musical selection of your choice, plus cold readings from the script.
We would be flattered if you sang something from 8 ITEMS OR LESS, but since the musical style is "updated Sullivan", just about anything from the Gilbert & Sullivan canon would do. Broadway or grand opera selections might work too, at the risk of making it difficult for us to judge your voice for our light-opera production.
Please keep your musical selection brief (under two minutes) and in English. If you want to prepare a second selection showcasing some other aspect of your voice, you might get a chance to sing it at the end of the evening, time permitting. We won't be performing with microphones, and of course the audience won't know the lyrics of this original work, so we're looking for singers with clear, open vocal tone, strong projection, and the highest standards of diction.
Please be prepared to stay after you sing, to read scenes with other candidates.
