'Schindler's List' Is Coming to DVD Jan 14, 3:38 PM EST Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning "Schindler's List," one of the most acclaimed films about human survival amid the horrors of the Holocaust, is coming to DVD The disc set, planned for release March 9, will be accompanied by interviews with some of the people who lived through the movie's story in real life, Universal Studios Home Video announced Wednesday This is the first-ever DVD release of the 1993 film, which won seven Academy Awards, including best picture and best director 98, will be available in both full-screen pan-and-scan format, which crops part of the rectangular movie image to fit square television screens, and the original widescreen format that preserves the entire image 98 collector's set, which will come in a special box and include the photo book "Schindler's List: Images of the Steven Spielberg Film" and composer John Williams' soundtrack on CD, which features violinist Itzhak Perlman The documentary was produced with footage gathered by the Shoah Foundation, which has gathered the firsthand stories of about 52,000 Holocaust survivors, spanning 56 countries and 32 languages Liam Neeson starred as Oskar Schindler, a German war profiteer who seemed to align himself with the Nazis while secretly working to save the lives of more than 1,100 Jews from death camps The discs, priced at $26 The DVD also will be available in a $79 The "Schindler's List" disc also features a brief documentary with Spielberg discussing the foundation, which he founded in 1994 Among the extra features is a 77-minute documentary titled, "Voices From the List," with never-before-seen testimonials from Schindler survivors
